Designed by architect Renzo Piano, the museum’s building in the Meatpacking District and on the shore of the Hudson River, contains more than 50,000 square feet of indoor galleries and 13,000 square feet of outdoor exhibition space, allowing the museum to display more of its permanent collection, which numbers in excess of 19
